For some time I was unsure about getting a red Moleskine, and I figured that since my black, ruled pocket notebook still had empty pages left I could extend its usage past last school term’s end. Yesterday Mark got me the red, ruled Moleskine in large as a Christmas present, ridding me of pesky indecision for the coming year. It was a clear buy, according to Mark; on our trips to various bookstores he always caught me looking at the Moleskines in red.

When he purchased his Urbanears Bagis Headphones in red Mark saw that it came with a sticker of the company logo in the same color; he thought it—in the shape of a heart—would be a nice finishing touch to a proposal that’s both romantic and very practical. I now keep it pristine in the back pocket of my notebook.

Beginning some months ago I returned to the old comforts of writing in a notebook. You can understand my absence, then, as owning a journal is like stitching a working ear into pretty leather and demanding, “Take it, take it all.” We fancy our lives unbelievable, and rare is the friend whose will to absorb our needless, glib discourse is greater than a concrete wall is hard. Getting a diary means that I get to keep my friends. Haha.

Now with an outlet for such things, I guess I can blog without a pervading sense of angst; this, along with a new found dedication to nurturing my near-doomed online presence, grants a new beginning for Overwhelming Win, now set apart from the riffraff of its previous incarnation and renamed, simply, www.nicolobalao.com. My objective is equally straightforward: Be super cool. Dig it. Let’s all be friends.
